You just downloaded your WeLocals App and you’re ready to start saving and supporting your local businesses. Welcome to the family! Below you’ll find answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you learn how to use the app, discover useful features, and become a local “pro”.
+ SIGN UP
Use the simple sign-up form to join WeLocals. Use your own email address, create a password, add your photo and your birthday (so we can celebrate with you) and pick a membership (free, premium, premium plus). That was fast!
+ APP REQUIREMENTS
Ready to use the app? Just remember that WeLocals app works best with Bluetooth and location services enabled on your device. Not ready to turn them on? No worries. You can still use the app and manually claim offers, but directions and other location-based features won’t be available.
+ PUSH NOTIFICATIONS
WeLocals app will send you notifications reminding you when you’re nearby a participating venue, including exclusive offers from that venue. Just make sure to enable push notifications and Bluetooth for WeLocals app on your device.
+ BROWSE THE VENUES
Want to see all the venues around you? The main page of the app has a complete list of participating venues. Are you a premium member? Switch between your two communities to view even more venues.
+ CHECK OUT A VENUE
Ready to see what a local business has to offer? Tap the listing on the main page to view current offers, location, hours, description, photos, rating, etc.
What kind of offers will you find on the WeLocals app? Here is breakdown:
• Points – Earn 1 point for every $1 spent
Example: Earn 200 points, get $20 OFF
• Visits – Visit 10 times, get 1 Free item (minimum spent per visit required; free item value equals minimum spent)
Example: Visit 10 times, get 1 FREE coffee
• Percentage off – Spend $xx or more, get 10% off
Example: Spend $100 or more, get 10% OFF
• BOGO – Buy one item, get one item free of equal or lesser value
Example: Buy 1 movie ticket, get 1 movie ticket free
+ CLAIM AN OFFER (AT VENUES WITH POINTS, VISITS AND PERCENTAGE OFF)
Your app should be open to the listing of the business where you’re making the purchase. At checkout, tap on the green Claim button to begin (if the button is gray, use “Tap here” underneath to use the manual method). Enter the total amount of your purchase, including taxes (before any discounts). Show your screen to the merchant to confirm total and ask for the QR code to scan (back-up QR code if the Claim button was gray). That’s it. As easy as “tap, show, scan”. Oh, and remember to pay for your purchase.
+ CLAIM AN OFFER (AT VENUES WITH BOGO)
Your app should be open to the listing of the business where you’re making the purchase. At checkout, tap on the green Claim button to begin (if the button is gray, use “Tap here” underneath to use the manual method). Enter the price per item and number of items you’re purchasing. Show your screen to the merchant to confirm total and ask for the QR code to scan (back-up QR code if the Claim button was gray). That’s it. As easy as “tap, show, scan”. Oh, and remember to pay for your purchase.
+ REGISTER A PURCHASE
Why register every purchase made at participating venues? Even if your purchase might not trigger the current offer at one of the venues, you will still earn valuable Local Coins. Local Coins are earned in the background for every transaction registered through the app and can be exchanged for store and neighborhood vouchers.

+ EARNING LOCAL COINS
How many coins do you earn every time you register any transaction at any venue listed on the app? Earn 0.05 Local Coins for every $1 spent. Local Coins can be exchanged for store and neighborhood vouchers.
+ USING LOCAL COINS
Where can you use your coins? First, go to My Activity to check your coins balance. Ready to spend them?
+ PURCHASING LOCAL COINS
If you’re trying to purchase a voucher but don’t have enough coins, you’ll have the option to purchase coins. Tap Buy More in the message pop-up to start. You can use your credit card or PayPal account to purchase coins.
+ EARNING POINTS
What happens with the points I’ve earned? Once you earned enough points, they will be automatically converted into a reward voucher which will be available for you to use towards your next purchase.
+ REDEEM A VOUCHER
All your available vouchers will appear as you register a transaction. You have the option to use a voucher towards your current transaction, or skip and save it for later. Remember, you cannot use a voucher in conjunction with another offer or discount.
+ REDEEM LOCAL BUCKS
All your available Local Bucks vouchers will appear as you register a transaction. You have the option to use a voucher towards your current transaction, or skip and save it for later. Remember, you cannot use a Local Bucks voucher in conjunction with another offer or discount.
+ REDEEM FREE ITEM EARNED FROM VISITS
Make sure your app is open to the venue where you earned a free item by visiting a set number of times and made a minimum required purchase during each visit. Go to Stuff you’ve already earned, look for the free item, tap Redeem, show your screen to the merchant to confirm, and scan the QR code.

Tap the search icon to search for one of the following:
To mark a venue as your favorite, tap on the venue to open the details page. On the banner image, tap the heart icon. Once you mark a venue as your favorite, the heart’s color will change to red. To remove a favorite, just tap the red heart again.
To rate a venue, tap on the venue to open the details page. On the banner image, tap the stars. Rate the venue then tap “Done”. To change your rating, repeat the same steps.
You can access your account by tapping on the round button with three lines located on the lower right side of your screen. Below are the options you can access through your account.
Tap the account icon then the profile picture. You are now able to view your profile. Want to make changes? Tap Edit then tap Update once you’re done. Please note: the email you used to register for WeLocals cannot be changed. If you moved and want to change your community, email us at email@example.com.
+ MY VOUCHERS
Want to view all your unlocked vouchers available for you to use? Tap the account icon, then go to My Vouchers. You’ll see store vouchers and Local Bucks. Store vouchers are redeemable only at the venue which appears on the voucher. Local Bucks are redeemable at any venue listed in your area(s).
Your available store vouchers and Local Bucks will appear while you register a transaction in a venue and you’ll have the option to apply them towards your purchase.
+ MY ACTIVITY
My Activity shows you a breakdown of your activity on the WeLocals app. This section is divided in 4 tabs:

+ MY ACTIVITY (COINS)
Tap the Coins tab to view your current available balance shown at the top of the screen. You can also view a history of your Coins activity:
+ MY ACTIVITY (POINTS)
Tap the Points tab to see your activity at venues where you earned 1 point for every $1 spent, grouped by venue. You can view your earned and redeemed points, by switching between Earned and Redeemed tabs. Tap on Earned and then on a venue’s name to see transactions which earned you points at that specific venue.
Tap on Redeemed to view every time your earned points were automatically exchanged for a reward voucher.
+ MY ACTIVITY (VISITS)
Tap on the Visits tab to see your activity at venues which require a set number of visits before you earn a free item, grouped by venue. The Earned tab will show you the number of current and previous visits. The Redeemed tab will show every time you redeemed a free item earned from the required number of visits.
+ MY ACTIVITY (VOUCHERS)
Tap on the Vouchers tab to view your current and past store vouchers and Local Bucks. The Active tab will show you the vouchers currently available for you to redeem. They can be redeemed while you register a transaction in a venue. The Redeemed tab will show you all the vouchers you previously redeemed. A store voucher will have the name of the venue at the top, while a Local Bucks voucher will have Local Bucks at the top.
+ WELOCALS FORUM
New in town? Need recommendations for things to do in the neighborhood? Need a handyman? Or you just want to network with other locals in the area? Use the WeLocals forum to get connected.
+ GET LOCAL BUCKS
You’re Local Coins rich and feel like spending? Tap on Get Local Bucks and use your coins in exchange for vouchers you can use at any venue listed in your community. You’d like to get a Local Bucks voucher but don’t have enough coins? No worries. You’ll have the option to purchase more coins by using your credit card or your PayPal account.
+ REFER A FRIEND
A friend of yours is a friend of ours. For every friend you’ll refer we’ll give you 10 Local Coins when your friend joins WeLocals. You got lots of friends? You can make lots of coins! Just fill out the simple referral form to get started and we’ll take care of the rest.
+ SUGGEST A BUSINESS
Want to see your favorite business on your WeLocals app? We’ll give you 100 coins for every business you refer to us, once that business joins WeLocals. Use to referral form to get started.
You can access your settings by tapping on the round button with three lines located on the lower right side of your screen. Below are the options you can access through your settings.
To access your notification settings, tap on the options button, then go to Notifications. You can change how you receive push and email notifications from WeLocals and from venues listed on the app. Use the on/off buttons to turn them on or off.
To access your membership details, tap on the options button, then go to Membership. At the top of the page you’ll notice your current membership level, marked by a green check mark.
+ CHANGE YOUR MEMBERSHIP
To access your membership details, tap on the options button, then go to Membership. To change your membership level, tap on one of the two levels listed under Change Your Card Membership. If you are changing from a free to a premium membership, you will be asked to enter your credit card details or use your PayPal account. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete your transaction.
+ CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP
To access your membership details, tap on the options button, then go to Membership. If you currently have a free membership, tap on the Cancel Your Membership button. If you are a premium member, first downgrade to the free membership, then cancel it as explained above.
+ ADD A SECOND COMMUNITY
Premium members have the option to use the WeLocals app in a second community (depending on availability). To add your second community, tap on the options button, then go to Add Your Second Community. From here, select one of the communities available in the drop-down, then tap Submit. You should now be able to switch between communities from the main screen of the app.
+ CHANGE PASSWORD
Want to change your password for your WeLocals account? Tap on the options button, then go to Change Password. Now enter your old password, then type a new password twice. Tap Submit to save the changes.
+ RATE THE APP
Do you enjoy using our app? Want to share your experience with the world? The best compliment you can give us is by rating our app in the App Store and Google Play. Tap on the options button, then go to Rate the app. Your feedback will help us improve and make it easier for other potential members to start supporting their neighborhood.

Our service uses location and communication services found in most smartphones to give you a seamless way of getting rewarded while supporting local businesses. Because of that, WeLocals is entirely app-based and requires a smartphone with the following minimum requirements:

Welcome! Glad you’re with us! Ready for a good deal? Open our app and browse through the list of local businesses and their offers for you. Just make sure you’re in a store and ready to make a purchase in order to use an offer.
+ HOW DO I CANCEL MY MEMBERSHIP?
Open the app and navigate to your account (the round bubble at the bottom of the screen). Then tap on Membership and select “Cancel my membership”. If you are a Premium or Premium Plus member, you'll need to first downgrade to Basic level before canceling your membership.
+ HOW DO I CHANGE MY MEMBERSHIP?
Open the app and navigate to your account (the round bubble at the bottom of the screen). Then tap on Membership and make the change as needed.
+ IS MY INFORMATION SECURE?
We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it, by storing personal information on a secure, password protected server, and by limiting access to your personal information to authorized personnel. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or via mobile device, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

We’re always looking to expand to more areas. We allow members to join from a certain neighborhood once we have local businesses signed up and ready to welcome you. Don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter so you can get notified when we’ll come your way.
+ IS WELOCALS AVAILABLE IN MY AREA?
When you join our program, you’ll be given a few options with areas where WeLocals is available. We always add more areas so check back often and sign up for our newsletter to get notified.
+ HOW CAN I GET WELOCALS AVAILABLE IN MY AREA?
